In a recent survey commission by DeCare Dental Insurance, half of all people (48%), stated that a good smile and healthy teeth is the very first thing that they notice about a person. Luckily, the Mayo Under 21 team should be able to keep their smiles intact thanks to the recent sponsorship of team Mouth Guards by DeCare Dental.

Wearing a mouth guard is about more than just projecting your smile. As DeCare Dental’s Chief Dental Officer, Dr. Gerard Gavin warns “The damage caused by sports injuries can not only be detrimental to your oral health, the cost of subsequent dental treatment can also be substantial. The extent of the damage can range from a small chip on a tooth, to a fracture and in some cases a tooth being knocked out completely. In most cases, sports injuries can be avoid by wearing a well-fitting mouth guard – it should be encouraged by all contact sport clubs.”

Speaking about the Mouth Guard sponsorship U21 team manager said,  “We’re very grateful to DeCare for this sponsorship. We see plenty of accidents on the field each year and Mouth Guards make practical sense. Getting players used to using them at an early age means that they become a natural part of their playing kit and this stands to them in the longer term.”

DeCare Dental  is Ireland’s only dedicated dental insurer and has been headquartered in Claremorris for over ten years, employing over 100 people.  As CEO Maureen Walsh states “DeCare has always been committed to supporting our local community and we’re very proud to be associated with this young and talented team. We hope these DeCare Mouth Guards will be a lucky emblem for the players this year!”
